34 southern Ontario-based companies are receiving $30,000 in seed funding.
WATERLOO, Ont. 34 southern Ontario-based companies are receiving $30,000 in seed funding and $10,000 of in-kind business support services such as one-to-one professional mentorship under the Accelerator Centre’s AC JumpStart program.
Funded by FedDev Ontario and delivered in partnership with Conestoga College, the University of Guelph, the University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University, the program is aimed at helping technology and technology-enabled companies establish and grow their businesses in southern Ontario.
Former AC JumpStart recipients include ApplyBoard, recently named Canada’s fastest-growing company by Deloitte, and NERv Technology, recent winner of the world’s first Entrepreneurship World Cup and its accompanying $500,000 USD prize.
The latest cohort has multiple companies representing various sectors such as education, energy and power, healthcare, financial services, digital media, manufacturing, and more.

“The $30,000 I received from AC JumpStart is a huge help,” says Thomas Uhlenbruck, founder and CEO of Pulse Industrial, an IoT company that improves safety and reduces fuel consumption in industrial plants. “The mentorship is nothing short of world-class. You can really treat the mentor team like having a senior officer in every department of your company. Being in the program has really helped to grow my company.” Uhlenbruck is in Cohort 9 of the AC JumpStart program.
