A Career Built on the Cutting Edge
Taleb’s path to entrepreneurship was paved with high-stakes engineering roles across the globe. An aerospace engineer by training, he spent years working on satellite communications for business jets and systems integration for automotive giants before landing at Archer Aviation in California. At Archer, he was at the forefront of the electric aviation revolution, defining the flight decks for passenger-carrying drones called VTOLs (vertical take off and landing).
“I chose Archer Aviation because of the chance to work on VTOLs. It was something that hadn’t been done before and I wanted an opportunity to contribute to that,” he says.
It was during this time that Taleb identified a critical gap in the industry. While modern aircraft generate an incredible volume of data, very few operators were successfully leveraging that information to predict maintenance needs or optimize performance. This realization, combined with a personal move back to Canada, became the catalyst to launch Vigelon.
Maximizing Airtime, Minimizing Surprises
Vigelon might seem like a fleet management tool on the surface, but beneath the surface, it’s a sophisticated intelligence platform that uses AI-driven algorithms to help drone operators control compliance, quality control, and maintenance schedules with precision.
“Vigelon is the perfect opportunity to combine all my skills and the pain points that I found in the industry, and build something that maximizes airtime and minimizes surprises,” he says.
Unlike legacy systems that have attempted to “tack on” AI features, Vigelon’s architecture was built with artificial intelligence at its center from day one. This allows for real-time predictions on battery health, payload impact, and distance—factors that are critical for electrified flight.
Mentorship and Global Perspective
To scale Vigelon, Taleb joined the Accelerator Centre’s Aerospace Accelerator as part of its second cohort. For a founder who has spent his career in global tech hubs like Germany and Silicon Valley, the AC provided more than just a launch pad; it offered a crucial bridge back into the Canadian ecosystem.
Through the program, Taleb has been able to access tactical resources like AWS credits, but he notes that the true value lies in the strategic, high-touch mentorship. Much like the experience of other AC founders, Taleb found that the mentors don’t just offer high-level advice—they integrate into the strategic planning of the business.
This hands-on support has allowed Taleb to refine Vigelon’s go-to-market strategy and develop a robust sales playbook, transitioning the company from a technical development phase toward active pilot programs and international expansion.
Taking Flight
Vigelon is building momentum, recently signing an MOU with a company in Oman, signaling international interest in their technology. The progress to date has reaffirmed Taleb’s belief that being intentional in what we do leads to big returns.
“I like to maximize my time usage, be it with my personal goals, gym goals, intellectual goals, or relationship goals. I just like to live an intentional life,” he says.
As the company seeks out beta customers, Taleb remains focused on the long-term vision—making Canada a leader in the next generation of aviation.
“The AC provided the incentive to stay here, and now we have the opportunity to build the future of flight from the ground up.”
