The Owl Solutions is modernizing the supply chain and reducing plastic emissions

Hugo Fuentes Diaz and Miguel Gallardo have worked in the supply chain industry for more than 25 years combined. During that time, they witnessed the modernization and digitization of sales, human resources, and finance functions as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms became commonplace. This digital evolution allowed industry professionals to make better-informed decisions based on data, creating the ability to increase sales, save costs, increase efficiency, and improve overall performance metrics.
However, the supply chain management function within organizations hadn't undergone mainstream modernization yet, thus Hugo and Miguel, the co-founders of The Owl Solutions, believe the time for transformation is now!
“We would drive ourselves crazy trying to achieve more in our roles, but we were constrained by our own circumstances. Our day-to-day was surrounded by disjointed spreadsheets as we tried to make sense of supply chain data,” said Hugo. “Lack of visibility, transparency and up-to-date information was impacting our ability as professionals and made it impossible to bring our industry forward at the speed of change. We knew there must be a better way to equip supply chain professionals to perform better and achieve greater results.”
Miguel and Hugo brought their industry expertise from working in Chile, Mexico, and The Netherlands to Canada, and in 2019 they created The Owl Solutions. The Owl platform considers all aspects of the process and provides powerful analytics and real-time KPIs to identify inefficiencies within supply chains, resulting in an increased bottom line.”
The Owl Solutions is currently working on a new development to reduce plastic waste and associated carbon emissions for manufacturing companies. The project received sponsorship from the Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) during Miguel and Hugo’s enrollment at the AC. The prototype was recently launched and will help organizations be more conscious and proactive regarding supply chain sustainability and ESG compliance, as well as save costs and taxes associated with new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) plastic regulations in Canada.
