Accelerator Centre Embraces a New Vision Under CEO, Jay Krishnan, and Moves to Make its Virtual Incubation Program Available to Startups Across Canada

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering our flagship program, The Accelerator Program®, permanently in both fully virtual and hybrid models to startups across Canada.

August 24, 2021

The Accelerator Centre (AC) is pleased to announce that it will be offering its flagship program, The Accelerator Program®, permanently in both fully virtual and hybrid models.

The organization began offering virtual programing in response to the pandemic and has seen consistent, increased interest in the program.

Like many other organizations, we had to adapt our program in 2020 to be delivered virtually in order to continue supporting our startup clients safely,” says Leanne Armstrong, Director of Programs and Client Experience. “The response to our virtual programming has been incredibly positive. As we look towards potentially returning to in-person programming as restrictions lift, many of our clients have expressed a desire to continue engaging with us remotely. The AC is known for a customized experience that supports companies every step of the way, so continuing to offer our programming remotely while also providing in-person options was an easy decision to make.”

In addition to making virtual and hybrid programs a permanent offering, the organization will expand eligibility for the program to extend to startups located anywhere in Canada. ‍

The move comes alongside the release of the organization’s new strategic roadmap, VISION 2025, created by their new CEO, Jay Krishnan. The roadmap focuses on building upon the organization’s track record of success, while catalyzing a transformation of the innovation ecosystem as it adapts to the realities of a post pandemic economy.

The changing global economy requires us to be clued into the evolving needs of innovators and entrepreneurs,” says CEO Jay Krishnan. “Following an unprecedented year of change, our surge to adoption of digital technologies and the creation of fully digital client experiences will be accelerated this year as a top priority. As a part of this digital transformation, the AC will embrace digital platforms to enable the organization’s success from programming to operations. In a post COVID world, it’s clear that entrepreneurship will be at the heart of the economic recovery and that support systems for entrepreneurs and innovators will need to change and adapt as well. This transformation will be a key driver for our new business models and operations. The Accelerator Program has a tremendous track record of success and we’re proud of the work we’ve done to contribute to making Waterloo Region a thriving innovation hub. Expanding the program and access to our community to founders across the country is an opportunity for the AC to contribute to Canada’s economic recovery and to support entrepreneurs with the same level of world-class programming—no matter where they live.”

Applications for The Accelerator Program are open on a rolling basis.
