Accelerator Centre and City of Waterloo Welcome First AC:Health Cohort Focused on Ontario-Made Healthcare Innovation

August 26, 2026

Inaugural AC:Health cohort brings together 30 Ontario health innovators developing AI, data, and software-enabled solutions to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

Cohort 1 of AC:Health.

The Accelerator Centre (AC) and the City of Waterloo are pleased to announce the inaugural cohort of AC:Health, a specialized healthcare innovation accelerator supported by the Province of Ontario and the City of Waterloo. The cohort brings together 30 high-potential companies developing AI, data, and software-enabled healthcare solutions designed to improve healthcare delivery, patient outcomes, and system efficiency across Ontario and beyond. By supporting founders building solutions in these areas, the AC aims to accelerate the development and adoption of Ontario-made innovations that can strengthen healthcare systems locally and scale globally.

Selected through a competitive application process, these companies are addressing some of Ontario’s most pressing healthcare challenges, including care coordination, clinical operations, mental health, diagnostics, patient engagement, health equity, and healthcare workforce efficiency.

Over the next nine months, founders will receive specialized mentorship, industry connections, healthcare partnerships, and commercialization support to help validate and scale their innovations.

The program responds to the growing demand for healthcare innovation and the increasing complexity of bringing new solutions into healthcare environments. Through AC:Health, the AC connects founders with healthcare leaders, clinicians, researchers, and industry experts who understand the unique challenges of the sector.

Delivered in collaboration with CareNext, Communitech, MacCelerate, Medical Innovation Xchange (MIX), Velocity, and other regional partners, AC:Health provides founders with:

  • Access to a network of 50+ health innovation advisors, clinicians, researchers, healthcare leaders, and industry experts
  • One-to-one mentorship and strategic guidance from experienced entrepreneurs, healthcare operators, and commercialization specialists
  • Opportunities to validate solutions alongside healthcare organizations, health system partners, researchers, and prospective customers
  • Support navigating healthcare procurement, adoption pathways, regulatory considerations, and enterprise sales cycles
  • Specialized programming, workshops, and peer-learning opportunities focused on healthcare innovation and commercialization

Located in the heart of Waterloo Region’s growing health innovation corridor and just steps from the future Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) hospital site, AC:Health serves as a launchpad for founders building solutions alongside the healthcare system, helping accelerate the validation, adoption, and commercialization of technologies that address real-world healthcare challenges.

“Health care touches every one of us, shaping the quality of our lives, our families, and our communities. Through AC:Health, we are honoured to support innovators as they build practical, meaningful solutions to strengthen our health-care system and help hard-working medical professionals deliver the best possible care to patients. Technology innovation can support the human side of health care by giving clinicians, caregivers, and patients better tools, better information, and better pathways to improve outcomes across Ontario and beyond.” – Ruth Casselman, CEO of the Accelerator Centre.

“Waterloo’s innovators are shaping the future of healthcare, and AC:Health will help turn promising ideas into impactful solutions. We’re grateful to the Government of Ontario and to the Accelerator Centre for partnering with us to support entrepreneurs, strengthen our health innovation ecosystem, and create lasting benefits for patients, providers, and our economy.” – Dorothy McCabe, Mayor of Waterloo.
