Former Trojan executive will accelerate the development and commercialization of disruptive nanomaterials for Waterloo startup.
The following is a news release issued by AC client Evercloak.
Evercloak is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ted Mao, P. Eng, as our new Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Mao brings significant cleantech leadership experience and has served as a key advisor to Evercloak since May 2019, making him an ideal choice to spearhead our technology development.
Dr. Mao is also President of MW Technologies, where he has provided CTO services to a number of start-up companies in the cleantech space as of March 2020.
Before that, he spent 14 years at Trojan Technologies (part of Danaher Corporation, an S&P 100 company) as Vice President, Research and as Chief Technology Officer, helping to drive >300% growth and build a global leading brand in the water industry with science and innovation.
At Trojan, Dr. Mao created a world-class industrial research team and network of partners to develop innovative treatment technologies to provide safe drinking water and to protect the environment and public health.
He is also an adjunct professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto and an internationally sought-after speaker on technologies and innovation.
“Dr. Mao brings the mix of industry know-how, leadership experience and academic credentials we need to accelerate the development and commercialization of our nanomaterial solutions,” says Evercloak CEO Evelyn Allen. “As we prepare to bring our breakthrough technology to market, he will add great value to our team and our product.”
Dr. Mao is currently an executive board member of International UV Association (IUVA) and Vice President of IUVA Americas, and he has served on Research Review Panels for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Canada’s Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation.
Evercloak, an innovative cleantech company, is commercializing a manufacturing platform for producing large-area nano-films and coatings, including graphene, graphene oxide, molybdenum disulfide, and carbon nanotubes. These films are increasingly used for a wide range of applications such as energy storage, smart packaging, electronic devices, corrosion inhibitors, and membranes. Evercloak’s initial focus is on manufacturing graphene-based membranes for dehumidification to significantly reduce the energy use and associated greenhouse gas related to building cooling. Evercloak is a winner of the NRCan Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada program, which includes seed funding to accelerate technology development in this area.
