Three years after the launch of Waterloo Region’s first clean technology accelerator, the Accelerator Centre is expanding its programming to include supports for all companies aligned with the achievement of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Waterloo, November 3,2020 –Today the Accelerator Centre (AC) announces the expansion of its successful clean technology (cleantech) programming, the TD Sustainable Future Program, to include supports for new businesses that will help to achieve the United Nations’(UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals, as outlined by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The program expansion, supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will make the AC’s globally renowned accelerator programming accessible to a wider, more diverse network of startups. The new offering will also bring additional supports targeted towards COVID-19 solutions, digital health innovation, the future of work, industry innovation, social innovation, community safety, education, diversity, equity, inclusion, and poverty reduction.

The expansion of the TD Sustainable Future Program to include all entrepreneurs commercializing new products and services that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals is our way of committing to a vision of a sustainable future that creates prosperity in the community while also protecting our planet.”
The TD Sustainable Future Program launched in 2017 with the support of the Ontario Trillium Fund and a $1M investment from TD Bank Group’s corporate citizen ship platform, The Ready Commitment. Since then, the TD Sustainable Future Program has supported 50 entrepreneurs. The resulting companies have generated $9M in revenue, created 53 new products, and created 102 local jobs.
