Full disclosure: I am perhaps the most unartistic person you will ever meet. In my teaching days I used to struggle through diagrams on the blackboard much to the delight of the students but only because it was more of a guessing game to figure out what the end result really was. Despite my lack of artistic talent, I can certainly appreciate the work of a passionate and creative artist such as we currently have on display at the Accelerator Centre and The Communitech Hub by Laurie Wonfor Nolan.
Laurie Wonfor Nolan has a collection of "plein aire" landscapes (yes, I had to ask what that meant in the art world) that are very pleasing to the eye and have added a great presence at both buildings. You can read more about Laurie and the outstanding collection of other artists that are part of the Art Allies group here.
In addition to the hard work of Jacqui Murphy on behalf of Art Allies I would also like to thank Martin Kihle and the entire team at Libro Financial for being the sponsor for this Quarter's art display. It is through the generosity of the Libro group that we are able to financially support Laurie's three month long showing but we are also in the position to purchase some of her pieces that will be on permanent display at the Accelerator Centre. Libro is also part of a great initiative called Young and Free Ontario that you can read about here. Thank you Libro Financial!
As always, we are happy to have the public stop in to either the Accelerator Centre or the Communitech Hub to view the outstanding art work. There will also be an Artist Meet & Greet on August 17th at the Accelerator Centre from 4-7pm that is open to all art lovers or those of you who just don't know that you are yet.
