The Accelerator Centre plays a pivotal role in accelerating the commercialization of technology in Waterloo Region, working jointly with a number of commercialization network partners, including Accelerator for Commercialization Excellence (ACE), Ontario Centres of Excellence Centre for Commercialization of Research, and the University of Waterloo's Intellectual Property Management Group (IPMG).
The Accelerator Centre is made possible through funding from its Federal and Provincial government partners, including the Ministry of Research and Innovation and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) as well as the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and the City of Waterloo.
The Accelerator Centre works closely with its Innovation Partners, including Communitech, Canadian Innovation Centre, the Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology, the NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), and Maplesoft to advance the commercialization of technology and to promote and support the success of entrepreneurs and start ups across the Region of Waterloo.
The Accelerator Centre enjoys a close partnership with leading academic institutions including the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Guelph and Conestoga College, and promotes the commercialization of research and technology rising out of these academic partners.
