Kevin Elop
Kevin is a senior financial leader whose broad experience encompasses start-up entrepreneurial environments and complex multinational corporations. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer of two early stage ventures: Forefront Automation Inc., a provider of highly specialized productivity enhancement automation systems, and Forefront Innovative Technologies, a leader in thin-film solar photovoltaic technology. Previously, Kevin spent seven years as the CFO of Christie Digital Systems, a world-leading manufacturer of digital projection solutions. Before joining Christie Digital, Kevin, as CFO, Treasurer, Corporate Secretary and Board Member, led the successful $100M NASDAQ IPO of Elastic Networks, a high tech telecommunications start-up company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Elastic Networks was focused on the development and manufacture of high speed internet access products.
Kevin's early career was spent articling with Deloitte and Touche, and at Nortel, where he gained experience in global consolidation and reporting, financial systems management, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning. Kevin has also spent time consulting and mentoring start-up companies.
Kevin took leave of his career in 2008 to spend fourteen months backpacking around the world with his wife and three children. An avid runner, he also recently completed the Big Sur Marathon.
Kevin was educated at the University of Waterloo, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters in Accounting degree. He attained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1989, and his Certified Management Accountant designation in 1990. He is also a University of Waterloo School of Accountancy Fellowship Honouree. In addition to serving on the Board of the Accelerator Center, Kevin sits on the City of Waterloo's Audit Committee.
