Proven track record

The success of the Accelerator Centre is underlined by the many milestones achieved since its incorporation on January 6, 2004:

  • Jul 2004: Board of Directors put into place. The board begins as a cross section of 18 representatives from the founding partners and individuals from the business community.
  • Apr 2005: Developed a business plan in conjunction with a team of MBA students from Wilfrid Laurier University.
  • Jul 2005: Established an interim office in the Sybase facility located in the Research and Technology Park. The first employee, Barb Muise, was hired as the Administrative Coordinator.
  • Nov 2005: Accepted the first clients, Semacode Corporation and Miovision Technologies Inc.
  • Feb 2006: Appointed a Director of Client Programs, Bobbi Holte.
  • Mar 2006: Appointed Gerry Sullivan as Chief Executive Officer for a one-year term.
  • May 2006: Grand Opening. Over 400 people turn out to celebrate this milestone. Accelerator Centre at 37% occupancy and increasing rapidly.
  • Jan 2007: Microsoft and Infusion Angels select the Accelerator Centre as home to the first Microsoft Innovation Centre located in Canada. The Infusion Angels Innovation Centre sponsored by Microsoft officially opens on January 31.
  • Mar 2007: Accelerator Centre reaches full occupancy at nine months rather than the projected 18 months, and marks the occasion with a "Come Feel the Energy" Celebration. At the celebration, Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) announce multi-year funding to strengthen and expand programs and services.
  • Mar 2007: Appointed Chief Executive Officer, Tom Corr.
  • Apr 2007: Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant, Karen Perry, hired to assist clients with Bookkeeping and HR/Payroll Administration.
